Website

Thanks to William & Laura Weems and Michael Hill we have an awesome neighborhood website.

Speed Limit

Please always obey the speed limits. There are children at play!

Street Parking

When parking your car on the street, please make sure that it is parked in a safe location as to not cause an accident; especially those who are at the entrance and the top of hills.

Dogs

At last month’s homeowners’ association meeting, several complaints were made about dog owners allowing their dogs to defecate on others property, wander around the neighborhood alone, pounce on children playing in their yard, and harass walkers. All of these things are violations of county ordinance. The Athens-Clarke County Animal Control department has been informed of these problems. If you have any further problems, please do not hesitate to contact them at 613-3540.

"Please also be aware that several homeowners in the neighborhood are using radio control - shock fencing to contain their dogs since our covenants do not allow chain link fencing. Please do not taunt these animals by allowing leashed dogs to stray into these pet's yards. Dogs walked on sidewalks should be kept on the sidewalks and should not be allowed to stray into areas on the house side of the sidewalk."

Residential Garbage Removal

To reduce wear and tear on the roads, eliminate excess traffic, and reduce the price of garbage removal, we decided to look into having one vendor to provide garbage removal service for the neighborhood. Numerous vendors were contacted and asked a series of survey questions to see which ones would give the neighborhood the best price. Several homeowners have expressed satisfaction with their current service and do not wish to change, therefore, if you desire to change, you may contact vendors at your discretion.

Quotes received from vendors:

Robertson Sanitation: $13.00 per month with 100% participation

Sterling Sanitation Inc.: $14.00 per month; did not specify participation percentage

AAA Sanitation: will reduce rates to $16.00 per month with 95% participation and guarantee it for 12 months

Bulldog Waste Service: $14.00 per month with 70% participation

Thanks to Kim McDuffie for gathering all of this information!

Maintenance of Your Lawns

Please remember that your lawns should be kept in a neat and pleasant condition at all times (grass mowed & edged, debris removed). If there is a reason why you can not abide by these standards (serious illness or death) please contact one of the board members to inform them of your situation. A homeowner has volunteered to assist those in need.

Yard of the Month

**Congratulations to Leroy & Venessa Banks of 301 Old Kings Crossing who are the winners of the Yard of the Month contest for the month of August!**

Judges for the month of August were Bob Leiter, Janice Cory, and Gay Gandrow.

The four criteria used in judging are: Neatness, Landscaping, Weed Control, and Color.

The last regular contest will be held on Tuesday, September 28.

The contest has been extended to include a Fall and Christmas contest.

The Fall contest will be held on Monday, November 15 and the Christmas contest will be held on Wednesday, December 15.

Criteria for the Fall and Christmas contest will be the same as the regular contest plus decorations need to be appropriate for the season. REMEMBER: BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER!

All who have paid their dues will be eligible (even previous winners).

We still need more judges. Please call Holli Kuykendall at 613-3900 if you are interested.
